Enjoy your teaching methods man, very sharp.
Thanks for revealing all your secrets. Now I shall rule the world; ha haaaaa
My dojo is far and only open 4 days a week so I'm forming a training schedule to train by myself once a week, primarily to focus on kihon.
This is perfect, thank you so much! Will be going through all your vids for training tips. Subscribed!
Not many people could execute a Yoko Geri correctly as it ended up as a combination of a Yoko Geri and a round house kick. Slowing it down in all it's elements make it a very powerful and rather crisp elegent technique to practice . Liked your tutorial in explaining this!
Very nice tutorials and lots of meaningful advice. Thanks a lot!
I still need help with balance
よこ+げり=よこ+ける(to kick verb) =よこ+げり(noun)
Hmm, first time I've ever seen that particular low squatting exercise. My students are not going to like you 😀
Same as Chinese characters
I’ve found what seems to work well with a yoko kekomi Geri is use kogeki 5, or 7 as it allows you to get a slide motion with the foot that’s planted. Kogeki 7 allows the hips to open making that thrust easier. At least that’s what works for me.
Can you show us how to do the twist kick (backwards roundhouse) and what stretches to help with the external hip rotation?
Great didactic explanation🥋Osu!👊🏾
Could you please make a video about the spits? Please
Yoko = means side, What does "ono" mean?
Very useful information
Well done much appreciated, thank u
Thanks sir…… It's simply owsom 😎✌Respect 🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇
I cannot do side kicks due to stiffness in my pubic and hip regions. What should I do to improve my flexibility to do those kicks? Please get to me on this.Oss!

Wow u writh japanese???my god!!

How many side kick do you suggest us to practice daily? Would you show us the best stretch exercise for side kick please? Thanks!!

How can I train at the dojo in okinawa?
I think iam the biggest fans of yours
Good lesson Sun Sei)))
This is great
Great movie. [squad like slav. Greetings from Poland]
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo one of the best vid! thanks!
Jesse! Could I impact with kakato in yoko geri kekomi? Please some information about these two kicks: keage and kekomi.
Sensei please make a video on how to create angle in striking
Hi Jesse, pretty good tutorial, but You omitted to mention that the hill of the supporting leg should move towards the target aswell, which puts You in correct, most beneficial position to execute this kick; to be quite honest, I only came across one video that covers that. Thanks
Jesse, great work, can you teach us more basic and foundation exercises, please. Also I have a question, do you lift weights? squats, deadlift, overhead press…etc?
I m an algerian surgeon I m 35 years old . After 20. Year when I stop karate I m now decided to restart training . I will contact you just when I have my great split and mastering some karate kicks. I hope that you comment and give me some encouragement.
How to do miegiri
How to improve kaitan Geri?
Gracias Jesse. Saludos desde Perú 👍
Solid advice! Thanks 👌🏻🥋
Thanks. It helped me on the spot. I trained it for many years and now I see the mistakes.
First: I'm not able to sit down in a squat, my heels can't touch the ground. What now?
Sir, would you be so kind as to make me a list of ONLY the most difficult martial arts exercise for building strength, form & speed???? Understood if you don’t have time.
Great video, this is very true
Yoko geri keage-kekomi
Sensei Jesse! Do you have any tips for using blocks in a fight or in kumite? Like the outside block (soto-uke?) and another blocks we use often in Kata. Just trying to rely on my reflexes alone doesn't work most of the time. Is there a trick to it?
You,re área great
Like for diahera
great videos. You've covered most kicks. Have you considered doing a kansetsu Geri vide? There do not seem to be many good videos of this technique which is particularly important in some kata.
Good. But it’s not good for people who still practice karate and have knee injuries or any other problem with that joint.
Practice makes man perfect…..
Omg I just spat my water out at work when you said the Geri comment.
Thanks very use full to me
Great !!! Can’t wait to try that exercise and work the kick oh and a cool side note about the word Geri ha that’s funny what you said but when I googled Yoko Geri in Japanese ( just to see how they have it ) the 1st thing below the definition was you ! 10 Japanese words everyone misunderstands in karate…Karate by Jesse. I thought that was cool 😁
I struggle with these kicks as well I find my body turns on me when I try and Yoko Geri kekomi which is annoying so I’ll try this. Thanks Jessie ossu 🙏
Thank you very much Sensei.
What style of Karate do you study Sensei?
Hi Jesse, I've been studying Marshall arts for a while now, but one thing I always fall at is my punches, my teacher keeps telling me my punches are too soft and too slow, this there any way that I can improve them?
“Soon, you can drive with one finger….and talk on the phone.” Bad advice Jessie 😂😂 but amazing advice for soku to 👌🏻
Don't drive while you're on the phone!
Do you turn the supporting foot on both kekomi and kiage? I have received some contradictory instructions regarding this. I do it one way for some instructors and the other way for others.
I’m having exams later this month. I noticed I’m still having troubles with Yoko Geri. This video actually helped me out. Thanks! Osu
Thanks sharing ! Love your videos.
Why is there a mitsudomoe on your karate gi
Great video again. Really need to focus on these. My side kick sucks and I will admit it. Although Swedish roads sound very lawless 😆
but what is kansetsu geri im confused because we are beeing teached that when you do Yoko geri you just lift it up from the ground straight
I´m just a stupid old man and have practiced Ju-Jutsu and Taekwondo for 28y now, but i do not know, what is different between yoko geri and sokuto geri? In Taekwondo there is only one kind of a sidekick and that is yop chagi. Can someone explain to me?
Sir, I think that karate repertoire like the side kick are being done like in ballet that the higher your legs and feet are to go up means better. Why not raise the legs only at the knee and then kick sideway from there. It is being made to appear that by raising your legs at hip level is the acme of a true karateka doing the proper way of kicking. They may intellectualize that being able to raised high your legs being better in kicking. In close quarter combat you may not have the time to raise high your legs to kick but direct from the ground you kick the target. Thanks.
Hi Jesse, I have a question that is buffeling me for some time now. All katas (shotokan karate) use the yoko geri keage, but the bunkai is (almost) always kekomi. I see that kekomi is the more powerful, straight forward kick. But I have the feeling that there must be reason for the keage in the katas. Could you help me out here? Additionally, a video on yoko geri keage might be very helpful, since it differs to the kekomi a lot. Thanks!
…. side diarrhea
I had to watch this again just for the diarrhea discussion 😂 sorry. It’s a great video the rest I mean 😏
Muy buenos tips para desarrollar la habilidad para patear. Good video.
Que buenos subtítulos 😁
Are there kicking techniques in Uechi ryu style?
… and your side kick will be smashed Hulk: you stole my favourite word, hulk sad
I mean….how does diarreah turn into a kick….insanity
This is the perfect video for side kicks. I'm old, 66, earned 4 black belts in Kyokushin karate and the only kick I felt ineffective with WAS my side kick. Sure, I had a great side snap kick but my side "thrust" kick was always off. Thanks to this video, and the 100 side kicks with each leg that I do every day, I'm now very confident with my side kick. Thanks.
Next time our Sensei says anything with “geri” in it, I will have to suppress the giggles. Great video with very useful explanations. Thanks a lot!! You lift my motivation 🙂
Excellent advice and technic, arigato Sensei
The spanish subtitles are great. Good job.
This is probably my favourite kick that I would love to perfect. I've been making progress, but I think this will help speed it up. Thanks!
What sidekick requiremoreenergy when we take the kick from their shoulder we need energy to heat back
Do all karate styles including okinawan styles have many kicking techniques like front kick, side kick, round kick, knee strikes and spinning kicks?
This is nice, but unhappilly I have some knee problems and because of this I cant squat this much and do this exercise you suggested… Do you have any alternative exercise that would be possible to a bad knee person? Thank you
If we use blade but not heel of our foot, would that hurt our ankles while hitting?I felt good when I use blade of my right foot;but when things turned to my left foot, heel seems better…
You guide me sir
What is the difference of yoko geri soku to and yoko geri kekomi?
