Hey guys, in this lesson, we’ll work on our second quinto phrase for developing our sound as a part of this course. Now, it’s another pattern that will combine open tone flams with closed slaps, except, we’ll work on leading either hand, as a basic component of the phrase. So, for the first half of our combination we’ll start off with a right-hand lead open tone flam on the “and” of one, then we’ll play two slaps, right left, and one more right-hand open tone on the “and” of 3. Now for the second half of our pattern, we’ll play the same exact thing, left hand lead. So, we’ll start with a left-hand lead open tone flam, followed by two slap tones left right, then one more left-hand open tone on the “and” of three. Now let’s work on both of these back to back, and this time let’s play each combination as a three-beat phrase. So, we’ll start our first right hand lead phrase on the and one, and our first left hand lead phrase will begin on the “and” of three. And just as with the combination we worked on in the last lesson, this being a 3 beat phrase, it will also shift by one quarter note each time we play it, when we’re in 4/4.
